Post and sell your work online

In this modern day and age, there are a plethora of online platforms that require professional photos for their marketplace. From eBay, and Pinterest, to Etsy, some similar companies regularly seek professionally taken photos to help contemplate their work. You could take photos of various items and have them sold to a responsible company would later imprint them onto various items such as cards, mugs, calendars, book covers, etc.

Become an event photographer

Very often large corporations host exclusive parties and require expertise from real photography artists. If you are keen on taking photos of people going about tables at corporate events and taking scenic shoots, then this is a job for you. For example, you could shoot around the event and document all things happening around, or you could be hired to only act as a stage photographer because some corporations opt to hire interesting photo booth services. For this, they would hire professionals at Photo Booth Me who would bring all the amenities, and props and even have a person in charge to make the event more riveting.

Try out wedding photography

On the other hand, if you are keen on taking portraits, and love helping people collect memories, then doing wedding photography is for you. For this type of job, you don’t need to be formally employed at some agency even though it would be helpful at the start of the business to get great recommendations for the future. What you can always do in order to get noticed is to open a social media account, preferably on Instagram, collect a great deal of followers, and then tag your photos and let people find you. Wedding photography can be a lucrative source of income as in this sector there’s no need for implementing eloquent techniques, the target audience is huge, you mainly work at the weekends, and you usually get paid instantly or prior to the wedding.

Opt for paid shots

For those who don’t like to be entangled in one specific job or prefer to go around places and shoot various things, doing paid shots job would be ideal for you. There are a number of small start-up companies, marketing agencies, people, and corporations that wish to hire a freelance photographer to do a single job when the chance arises. Hence, if you are eager to make some money on the side and turn your hobby into a well-paid business, you can start by accepting jobs as a freelance photographer and doing occasional paid shoots for different companies.

Enter a photography competition

Getting your name heard is the first step to getting noticed in the photography world. If photography has been your passion for years, but you never seemed to find an adequate job or ways to earn money from it, a great start would be to enter some photography competition. Search the web for some of the most invigorating competitions, and try to get your name out there. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone because entering a photography competition is a sprucing way to get recognized even if you don’t win.

Have your photos featured

Another interesting way to get the most out of your hobby (money-wise) is to contact some publishing companies and have your images featured in some magazine, newspaper, or internet page. Magazines such as the renowned National Geography and the Times are gladly open to new proposals and they very often buy and feature photographs from unknown artists. It is of utmost importance not to get disheartened at any moment as many of those publishing companies regularly get amateur photos and do a thorough selection, so it’s highly possible that you would be selected.

Stock photography

Even though this may not be one of the most productive ways to earn money in the photography industry, it could be a smart and easy way to top up your wage. Stock photography is a good way to get some side income as most sites don’t really pay well plus stock photography does compress a relatively competitive market. Most pictures that are at Adobe Stock, Shutterstock, or Getty are quality made but the agencies obtained the photos from various places and amateurs, hence they got paid minimum. If you want to take a plunge in stock photography, aim at smaller agencies such as Yay Images or Envato.

In the end, making your platform and selling photos from there might be the best way to make money out of this flabbergasting hobby. All in all, there are plenty of ways you can earn money from photography no matter how popular this hobby is.
