So here’s what you can do with your dog while you travel.
- Go for boarding. There are plenty of destinations that allow you to board your dog so that you can keep them in a place that is like a dorm for dogs. Boarding homes give dogs their own spaces and often there is a tiered system for payment so you can be able to keep your dog in a special room or they can have a suite and the more you pay the better the space they have.
- Ask a friend to help. If you have a friend who’s offered a favor at some point, then it’s time now to call in that favour. Call around your friends and family to see if anybody can have your dog with them for a couple of weeks while you go away. It’s a chance for them to get to know each other a little better, and with a friend you can trust that your dog will be looked after. Friends and family are a great place to start because usually, even if it’s only short term, they’d be more than happy to look after your dog for you.
- Take a look at dog setting websites. If friends and family are not available to help out on the dates that you want to go on vacation, then you need to see whether or not you can get a dog sitter. Dog sitters are again paid for, but they can either host your dog at their home or they can come to your home at certain times during the day that your dog can be walked and fed.
